Ishana Shyamalan's directorial debut, The Watchers, is edging closer to its theatrical release, and Warner Bros has shared the first full trailer, which previews what the first-time director has in store for us.

Following the 28-year-old Mina, The Watchers is adapted from A. M. Shine's novel. Dakota Fanning leads as Mina, joined by Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan and Olwen Fouere in the film produced by Shyamalan's father, M. Night Shyamalan.

The trailer opens with Dakota Fanning conversing with a parrot before the two take off on a road trip through some country roads, where Fanning's car breaks down.

In traditional mystery/horror fashion, Fanning gets out of the car and heads deep into the woods, where she meets an ominous surprise.

We then get into the meat of the film with the spine-tingling sound design and flinching imagery that we got a taste of in the first teaser, which was released at the end of February.

If Ishana Shyamalan has taken a leaf from her father's book, we can expect some wild twists and turns throughout The Watchers.

The trailer does a great job of establishing what's going on without giving too much away, and with just two months to go until the film hits theaters, audiences aren't going to have to wait long for the secrets to unravel.

The Watchers is set to open in theaters on June 14.
