2020 is here, and for "Friends" fans, that means one thing: a reminder of that 2003 episode when Chandler made a joke about the year 2020.
Back when the show was still airing (and Ross and Rachel's daughter Emma was still a baby), Chandler and Monica recorded a video message for Emma. Of course, the video was filmed in 2003, with Chandler mentioning Emma growing up. "The One with the Cake" might have brought an adult-shaped cake, but it also brought Chandler's nap joke.
It looks like Chandler has received an answer from Emma. The actress is now all grown up.
In Case You Need A Recap
If you've watched the episode a zillion times, you won't need the refresh. On the off-chance you do, here's what Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) said.
"Hi, Emma. It's the year 2020. Are you still enjoying your nap?"
The video set to be shown to Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston)'s baby girl wouldn't be played to her for years to come.
Along came Monica (played by Courteney Cox).
"We're Aunt Monica and Uncle Chandler, by the way – you may not recognise us because we haven't spoken to your parents in 17 years," Monica said.
"We used to be married but then we missed a weekend away together and things kind of unravelled… Because of you!" Chandler quipped back.
Emma Has Woken Up From Her Nap
And it's made Digital Spy's headlines. Noelle Sheldon is the actress who played Emma. Alongside her twin sister Cali, the actress has taken to Instagram to remind the world that she has, indeed, woken up from that nap.
Photoshopping herself into the Central Perk coffee house that was the "Friends" cast's default hangout spot, Noelle posted her pic with a caption.
"Just woke up from the best nap of all time, happy 2020!! (ft. my poorly done photoshop) Hope everyone has an excellent year full of family, friends, and laughter!!"
Although Jennifer Aniston Joining Instagram Made A Few More Waves
2019 may have brought rumors of a "Friends" reunion, but it also brought the arrival of Jennifer Aniston to Instagram. The 50-year-old broke Instagram's records for gathering 1 million followers in the fastest ever time, even beating Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Jennifer is currently starring in Apple TV's "The Morning Show," where her $2 million-per-episode salary is double the $1 million-a-pop she was earning during later seasons of Friends.
Every update from Aniston racks up millions of likes, including the one that basically made the whole of Instagram swipe.
'Friends' Nearly Ended Way Earlier Than 2004
Friends hit screens in 1994, airing for ten years. The show's co-creator David Crane did, however, reveal that the much-loved sitcom nearly ended much earlier than 2004.
"When we were doing the eighth season, we were told, 'This is the end'," he said. "And then they negotiated another season, so we're in for nine. We were told at a certain point on nine that 'This is absolutely the last season'. And then a week later, they came back and went, 'Well…' he said.
If Chandler's nap line is up there with one of your favorites, you're likely already smiling over the fact that Emma did wake up from that nap.
