WATCH: UNC star talks role on Netflix's 'Outer Banks' and where you might see the cast next

A player familiar to North Carolina basketball fans got a question that didn't involve his skills on the hardwood.

During the end of an interview with ESPN prior to the Tar Heels' game at Florida State on Saturday, UNC standout Armando Bacot was asked about his appearance on the popular Netflix show "Outer Banks."

"Shoutout to Josh Pate...(he's a) UNC grad," said Bacot, referencing the co-creator of the hit show. "He hit me up right after the Final Four (UNC reached the Final Four in 2022, beating archrival Duke) and was like do you want to be on OBX, and I thought I was dreaming at the time."

Bacot was featured in Season 3 of "Outer Banks" as a bodyguard named Mando.

Although it's been mostly filmed in Charleston, South Carolina, the show got permits to shoot in Wilmington late last year.

Co-creator Jonas Pate, twin brother to Josh, lives in Wilmington.

Bacot said he was excited to take part in the show and had a lot of fun on set getting to know the cast.

"We've been trying to get them down to a game," Bacot said, adding that cast members are currently busy filming the next season of the series. "Hopefully we can get them down there sometime in March."

Even though it hasn't shot here until now, "Outer Banks" has long had a strong connection to Wilmington.

Wilmington's Bo Webb, a co-founder of the Port City's Cucalorus Film Festival, is a camera operator on the show, and "Outer Banks" also features many other Wilmington-based crew members.

It's not expected that Netflix will announce the release of Season 4 until this summer or fall 2024 at the earliest.

As for Bacot, he and the Heels went on to beat Florida State 75-68.
