America's Got Talent
NBC
HOW/WHEN & WHERE TO WATCH: 8 p.m. on NBC
The show must go on. While judge Simon Cowell recovers from surgery after breaking his back over the weekend, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara, along with guest judge (and coach on NBC's other talent show, The Voice) Kelly Clarkson (filling in for Cowell on tonight and Wednesday), will oversee the action as it moves to Universal Studios starting tonight for the annual AGT live shows. Eleven performers that include the wrongly incarcerated Archie Williams, the Pork Chop Revue, and FrenchieBabyy the contortionist, will compete for America’s vote and the $1 million prize. Viewers can send their fave performer to the next round by using the America’s Got Talent Official App or going to NBC.com. —Lynette Rice

HOW/WHEN & WHERE TO WATCH: 9 p.m. on Discovery
Mike Tyson overcame his terror of sharks on the opening night of Shark Week. Now it’s Will Smith’s turn. The actor/producer/rapper/bucket list cross-offer heads to not Miami but the Bahamas to get not jiggy but up close with the ocean’s apex predator, guided by shark guru Paul de Gelder. The special — which grew out of a 2019 installment of his Facebook Watch series, Will Smith’s Bucket List — sees the two-time Oscar nominee (and Shark Tale voice actor) face down some tiger sharks as well as a fear that was fomented in his childhood when he first watched Jaws. You’ve seen Smith’s heroics above water; let’s watch what happens when this A-lister goes beneath the sea. —Dan Snierson

Season Premiere
Football is back? As questions remain as to whether sports will be able to happen outside of a bubble environment (as the NBA and MLS have done), the NFL season unofficially kicks off with the latest installment of HBO’s behind-the-scenes series Hard Knocks. For the first time ever, two teams will be followed through training camp as the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams prepare to open their new joint state of the art stadium. Come for stars like Aaron Donald and high-profile rookies like Justin Herbert, but stay for the stories of the inspirational stories of the no-name players trying to make a name for themselves. —Derek Lawrence
