Watch Trump React to the FBI Raid on His Lawyer
The FBI raid Monday on the home and offices of Michael Cohen, President Trump's longtime personal attorney, was an unquestionable escalation.
The warrant for the search required an incredible burden of evidence. As legal experts are already spelling out, to seize documents that fall under attorney-client privilege, investigators must get approval from officials at the Southern District, the Department of Justice, and a magistrate judge. They would need plenty of evidence already that Cohen was up to something.
While it was not the direct work of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office-whatever Mueller dug up was referred to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York-you can be sure Trump sees this as the Russia probe closing in on him. Actually, you don't need to speculate. The president has already reacted, and you won't be surprised how:

Play the hits!
Witch hunt! A disgrace! It's Jeff Sessions' fault!
.@POTUS lashes out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions, saying he "made a terrible mistake" when he recused himself of the Russia investigation. Trump says he would have picked a different attorney general. https://t.co/FhYy17s2r8 pic.twitter.com/YRDWh3aQEt

But then we heard him drop the new stuff.
An attack on our country! An attack on what we all stand for!
What, exactly, do we all stand for? Or more to the point, what does Donald Trump stand for? Certainly not the rule of law or any recognizable institution of democracy. We're about to find out whether this will be the straw that broke the generalissimo's back, and leads to Trump firing Mueller. Then we'll find out what Republicans in Congress stand for, too.
"Why don't I just fire [special counsel Robert]Mueller? Well, I think it's a disgrace going on. We'll see what happens, but I think it's really a sad situation," @POTUS says. https://t.co/FhYy17s2r8 pic.twitter.com/FMZR90jwXt
