As of now, CNN’s Iowa debate will be a one-on-one showdown between the former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the only two candidates besides former president Donald Trump, to qualify. Participants needed at least 10 percent support in three national or Iowa polls, including at least one poll of likely Iowa caucusgoers. Low-polling candidates Vivek Ramaswamy, former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and former Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas did not qualify.

Trump, who did qualify for the CNN debate and commands a lead over the rest of the field, will once again skip the primary debate and instead participate in his own Fox News town hall in Des Moines on Jan. 10. Trump’s town hall, co-moderated by anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, will air live on FOX News Channel at 9 p.m. ET, and will be available to stream live on DirecTV Stream.

On the campaign trail, DeSantis has repeatedly criticized Trump for refusing to participate in GOP primary debates.

“He’s not been willing to come here and answer questions,” DeSantis told reporters last week. “He parachutes in for 30, 45-minute, hour speech and then just leaves, rather than listening to Iowans answering questions and doing, I think, what it takes to win.”
