Joe Dirt and his mullet are back after nearly 15 years. David Spade reprises his trashy role in Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, as seen in the exclusive trailer above. (Warning: The video contains some mild bad language, raunchy jokes, and very brief nudity.)
The “white-trash Johnny Appleseed” returns with lines like, “Luke, I am your logger,” as well as some mile-high (literally) potty humor.
Several actors from the 2001 original are back, too: Dennis Miller as radio DJ Zander Kelly, Christopher Walken reprising his New York mobster role, Adam Beach as Kicking Wing, and Brittany Daniel as Brandy, Dirt’s love interest and now wife. And while last time Kid Rock made a cameo, this time a rocking part has gone to Mark McGrath.
In case you forgot the plot, the first installment found Mr. Dirt on the hunt for his birth parents. This time he wants to be reunited with his wife and triplet daughters after being ripped away from them by a tornado that takes him back in time — to 1965. Thanks to the twister time machine, the feather-haired, mustached hero has to survive a biker gang, an organized crime gang, and an airplane toilet to return to his blissful trailer park existence with Brandy and the girls.
And what better song to celebrate Dirt’s comeback than “Freebird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd (whose “Sweet Home Alabama” and “That Smell” appeared on the original soundtrack).
We’ll see if Dirt frees himself from the shackles of the mid-60s and gets back into Brandy’s arms when Beautiful Loser starts streaming on July 16, only on Crackle.
