Watch the First Trailer for Russell Brand Doc by 'Dig' Filmmaker (Exclusive)

Brand: A Second Coming promises a raw, unfiltered look at an outspoken, multi-hyphenate celeb. In this exclusive, slightly NSFW trailer (for some profanity), Russell Brand’s life as a comedian, actor, former husband of pop star Katy Perry, and recovering addict are explored in depth by Ondi Timoner, who made the popular 2004 rock doc Dig.

Judging from the trailer, the film covers all of it, including Brand’s early years — as well as his belief that he’s the next Jesus Christ. Whether Brand is delusional, publicity-seeking, a combination of the two, or neither, his heart appears to be in the right place these days, proselytizing every chance he gets in the attempt to thwart poverty, global warming, and other ills of human existence.

A Second Coming opens in Los Angeles on Sept. 25, in New York on Oct. 2, and later expands to other theaters. And based on the no-holds-barred rock rivalry between ‘90s bands The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols as portrayed in Dig, A Second Coming probably won’t have any sugarcoating, either.
