Watch a terrified Emily Blunt fly 45 feet in the air in behind-the-scenes 'Mary Poppins Returns' clip (exclusive)

Let’s go fly a kite — or better yet, an Emily Blunt. In this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the Mary Poppins Returns home release, the Golden Globe-nominated actress takes flight for the first time. And if you thought that Mary’s grand entrance was done with computer graphics, take a gander at that giant crane, hoisting Blunt way up above the trees.

“There are no nets. She was quite nervous and scared,” recalls director Rob Marshall in the featurette. “But I kept saying to her, you’re not coming in — the character’s coming in.” And who has less fear than Mary Poppins?

“I wasn’t aware of just how high I was gonna go,” Blunt admits. “You go up and up and up, and so we got to about 25 feet, and I thought, well, that’s actually really high now. And then you keep going, 45 feet in the air.”

Naturally, Blunt had to get that high in order to float gently down to Earth, where co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda was waiting with a high-five. In the video, she seems a bit shaken by the stunt — until she watches herself in the monitor, looking practically perfect in every way.

Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns can be pre-ordered on digital (release date: March 12) and Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD (release date: March 19).
