We’re not sure yet when Teddy Bridgewater will return to game play for the Minnesota Vikings, but on Wednesday the quarterback was back on the field for practice, his first since a devastating knee injury suffered in the final days of training camp last year.

The Vikings posted a video of Bridgewater, in the customary red non-contact jersey most NFL quarterbacks wear in practice, jogging out to the field, a brace and sleeve on his left leg.

NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, who was in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, for the team’s practice, also posted video. It shows Bridgewater doing a drill with the team’s other quarterbacks. Fittingly, Drake’s hit, “Started from the Bottom” is playing on the speakers.

Before the practice began, Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer said there was a plan in terms of how Bridgewater’s return would be handled, but didn’t offer many details. He also tried to calm the hype around the 24-year-old’s recovery, saying, “I get it, the fans and the media excited about Teddy being back, but he’s still got a ways to go.”

But it’s hard not to be excited if you’re a Vikings fan, and hard not to feel good for Bridgewater as a player and person; less than 14 months after suffering an injury so bad – torn left ACL and dislocated knee among the damage – there was fear he could lose his leg, he was back on the practice field.
