It's Jenny Han's world, and we're just living (and loving) in it. Amazon Prime Video's series adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Han's first YA romance trilogy, stole our hearts and dominated our screens last summer, skyrocketing its two love interests, Chris Briney and Gavin Casalegno, to heartthrob status seemingly overnight. This summer, Season 2 of the coming-of-age romance has returned to reignite our crush on the Cousins Beach-goers — and revive Season 1's twisted love triangle. Now, the streamer has made it official: The Summer I Turned Pretty will return for Season 3 (with 10 episodes this time!).

If you're a fan of Han's work, as the author of the original series or as the showrunner on The Summer I Turned Pretty, it may come as no surprise to you that this isn’t the multi-hyphenate’s first time adapting one of her works for the screen. Netflix's original movie series To All the Boys I've Loved Before is an adaptation of Han's most recent romance novel series, and the streamer's new show, XO, Kitty, marks the first Netflix Original show that's a spinoff from a Netflix Original film — spearheaded by Han, though not based on one of her books directly.

Between Han's production deal with Amazon Studios and the forthcoming original movie and "couple of books," she reportedly has in the works, it seems high time to hop on Jenny Han's bandwagon, if you haven’t already. Here's what you need to know about the new season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, plus how to catch up on every other series and movie in the Jenny Han universe:

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 new episodes release date

New episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 are dropping weekly on Fridays. That means this week you're getting Episode 6! The remaining two episodes of Season 2 will drop weekly on Prime Video through Aug. 18.

Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Jackie Chung, David Iacono and Rain Spencer are all returning for the second season of Summer I Turned Pretty. Season 2 will also see the addition of a new cousin in cousins: Elsie Fisher, from Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade and Prime Video's My Best Friend's Exorcism.

Amazon has officially confirmed a third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty! Since there are three Jenny Han books, and the author inked an overall deal with Prime Video back in 2022, fans of the franchise already had their suspicions. Still, you can never be too careful in the midst of this current wave of show cancellations.

Is XO, Kitty a To All the Boys I've Loved Before sequel?

This series spinoff of To All the Boys I've Loved Before focuses on Kitty Song Covey, little sister to Lara Jean Covey (and Margo) from the Netflix films. It's a continuation of Kitty's coming-of-age story, but the series doesn't reveal much in the way of Kitty's two elder sisters. The show also works independently from the films, so even if you haven't caught up on To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (although you totally should), you can still enjoy XO, Kitty as a standalone show.

XO, Kitty cast

Anna Cathcart reprises her role as Kitty Covey alongside returning To All the Boys cast members John Corbett and Sarayu Rao. Minyeong Choi, Gia Kim, Sang Heon Lee and Anthony Keyvan also star.

XO, Kitty Season 2 release date

Netflix's first series spinoff of an original movie will be getting a second season, but unfortunately, there's no official release date for XO, Kitty Season 2 (yet). In the meantime, why not check out the rest of Jenny Han's universe?

  • To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)

Are all of Jenny Han's books connected?

Not exactly. So far, Han has not gone as far as to declare all of her stories are connected. However, Jenny Han does make minor cameos in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and both seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty. So, by that logic, we could assume these shows and movies take place in the same cinematic universe, even if there has yet to be any crossover (much like Sam Levinson suggested about his two series, Euphoria and The Idol).
