The stage of Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre could hardly contain the star power on Sunday night (May 14) when Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard got his musical mojo working as MC and occasional frontman during the Sweet Relief Fund charity event “Strange 80s.” As promised in an interview with Billboard earlier this month, Wolfhard, 14, didn’t just introduce members of The Go-Go’s, Slipknot, Anthrax, Taking Back Sunday, OK GO, Anberlin, Filter, Velvet Revolver, Steel Panther, 5 Seconds of Summer and Goldfinger who were on hand to help raise money for musicians in need of medical aid.

He also got in on the 1980s cover song action with a rumble through New Order’s “Age of Consent” with his band Calpurnia, as well as Weezer’s “El Scorcho” and the Pixies’ “Where is My Mind?” According to Yahoo! Music, the night also featured Deap Valley’as bluesy take on Pat Benatar’s “Love is a Battlefield” and Prince’s “Kiss,” Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Anthrax’s Scott Ian also taking on Prince (“1999” and “Let’s Go Crazy”), Tenacious D and Sarah Silverman arguing ove the use of the word “ass” in Huey Lewis & The News’ “Heart of Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Weird Al” hitting Devo’s “Girl U Want” and Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309.”
