PEOPLE can share an exclusive behind-the-scenes look, with the costars making light of each other's quirks while giving fans insight into the close friendship they've formed filming the dark drama

Once cameras stop rolling on Found, there's no trace of the grimly intense dynamic fans have seen on screen between stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Shanola Hampton.

In fact, as viewers can tell from PEOPLE's exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette (which was filmed in Atlanta prior to the start of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike), the duo are almost certain to be goofing off between takes of the gritty NBC drama.

Hampton, who plays Gabi Mosely, is in on the joke from the start, saying, “Hi, I’m Shanola Hampton. My hope for 2023 is to never to work with Mark-Paul again.”

Gosselaar, who is sitting right next to her, asks with a laugh: “Can you say that? Are you serious?”

As the featurette goes on, the 49-year-old Saved by the Bell alum creeps up behind Hampton, 46, as she's gushing about the talented cast. Gosselaar suddenly appears over her shoulder and whispers in her ear. She jumps a foot and screams, “Who is that?! Oh, mother freaker!”

“And then there’s this one actor who I really am learning to accept for who he is,” the Shameless star teases as Gosselaar continues to loom. “And sometimes just when you're in this business for such a long time ... you sometimes get a bit of an arrogance.”

She qualifies, “Arrogance is not the right word,” as Gosselaar nods in agreement. “It feels like you’re almost breathing down people’s neck ... when you’re working with this person. Just — you can’t get a break.”

Elsewhere, Hampton also recalls the first time she met Gosselaar, who informed her to refer to him only as “Mark-Paul or MP.”

“You have to have both, both names, Mark-Paul or MP,” she jokes. “I don’t know if everybody knows that.”

When the director yells cut, Gosselaar rolls of his eyes and says, “Thank God” as Hampton playfully chastises her costar by grabbing his arm.

NBC’s new original series Found follows a fictionalized version of these harrowing events — and one woman who has committed her life to bringing the missing home. When the rest of the world forgets their stories, Gabi Mosely does not.

It might be because she’s passionate about speaking for unheard voices. Or it may be because she’s a kidnapping survivor herself — with a dark secret (involving Gosselaar's character Sir) that she won’t give up willingly.
