Watch Sean Paul in Pitchfork’s New Series “Under the Influences”

Pitchfork is pleased to announce the launch of a new video series, “Under the Influences.” In the series, artists who are experts in their field break down the music that has influenced their own style and development. They’ll share favorite or important moments from their genre, whether that’s analyzing the intricacies a track’s rhythm section, celebrating a bassline, or explaining lyrical decisions.

The first episode features Sean Paul dissecting some of the most important songs in dancehall history, including his own “Get Busy.” Watch Sean Paul talk Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam,” Shabba Ranks’ “Twice My Age,” and more below.

Sean Paul recently dropped his new Tove Lo collab “Calling On Me.” Check out Pitchfork’s Sunday Review of his 2002 record Dutty Rock.
