Sam Heughan had egg on his face and in his drink after he accidentally botched a cocktail recipe while visiting The Tonight Show on Wednesday.

The Outlander actor, who co-founded the appropriately titled Sassenach Spirits in 2020, was attempting to make a nice little "late-night-cap" for himself and host Jimmy Fallon when he forgot one of the steps and ended up making a raw egg-filled monstrosity instead.

"What do we have here?" Fallon asked as he skeptically inspected the tray on his desk. "Why do we have eggs?"

"Eggs are good for protein," Heughan replied. "We're gonna make you a Ginny Fallon cocktail. You're gonna help me, my friend."

Heughan proceeded to lay out all the ingredients for the audience, should they want to try their hand at making one too. "We've got in here, I've been told, reliably, that there's — Woo! Yep, that is alcohol. Gin. Wild Scottish gin," he said. "We've got some lemon juice. We've got some simple syrup."

After encouraging Fallon to pour ice into the cocktail shaker, Heughan gave it a firm shake, briefly hesitated, and then continued to mix it. He then sheepishly confessed, "I already messed this up, Jimmy."

"You did?" a surprised Fallon asked. "Were you not supposed to put…?'

"It's okay," Heughan said as Fallon gave the audience a concerned look. "It's all gonna be fine."

The actor then admitted that he should have dry-shaken the gin without the ice, but since he didn't, he got the whole shaker stuck. "I can't even open it, Jimmy," he said, giving a worried look to the crowd as they began to laugh.

To try to salvage the drink, the pair began to whip up their own recipe off the cuff, cracking raw eggs into the bottom of their respective glasses and then pouring the lemon juice, simple syrup, and alcohol on top to create a type of milky, fizzy, yolk-filled Frankendrink. Then they clinked their glasses and each took a sip — though neither seemed to get any of the egg yolk floating at the bottom.

Fallon, who was grimacing even before tasting the drink, suddenly changed his tune. "Not bad," he said. "The gin makes it taste good."
