"When disaster strikes your home, your life doesn’t change in an instant, it changes forever," Ray shares in the trailer for her 'Rachael Ray's Rebuild'

Three years after a devastating fire destroyed her home, Rachael Ray is helping others who have lost theirs to disaster in a brand new show.

On Rachael Ray’s Rebuild — her first series since she ended her talk show after 17 seasons in March — the celebrity cook and Kitchen Cousins’ contractor Anthony Carrino team up to rebuild houses for families in need. It premieres Monday, October 23 on Hulu.

"I can say from personal experience that when disaster strikes your home, your life doesn’t change in an instant it changes forever," Ray, 55, says in the trailer above, premiering exclusively with PEOPLE.

Ray's New York home burned to the ground in a massive fire in 2020.

At the time, Ray tweeted to her fans thanking them for their well wishes, and showed gratitude to the firefighters who showed up to help.

"Thank you to our local first responders for being kind and gracious and saving what they could of our home," she wrote. "Grateful that my mom, my husband [John Cusimano], my dog… we’re all okay." She added: "These are the days we all have to be grateful for what we have, not what we’ve lost."

The following year, during the season 16 premiere of the Rachael Ray Show, the host provided her fans with a virtual tour of the rebuilt home.

"This is our house. It is really exciting to have a house rebuilt in a little over a year," Ray explained. She tried to replicate and recreate her home to be exactly as it was prior to the fire. It's "back to a fresh shell that is very much the same,” she said of the status, revealing that all that had been left of the house after the blaze was "just the hole in the ground."

Following the reveal of the rebuild, Ray reflected, "We ultimately became very grateful to have everyone share our lives with us through this tough time, because we were all going through the same tough time together."

Of her mission on the new series, Ray explains, "I am going to help people who have lost their homes to a disaster. Because it’s not just your home, it’s your life that you’ve lost”

Throughout the sneak peek, Ray's co-host, HGTV regular Carrino, is seen with his team of contractors and designers bringing new homes for the families to life. He also joins a few of the recipients to examine what's left of their old homes before they rebuild and in a moment of candor says, “Nature is no joke.” He adds, “Knowing what they’ve been through, I can’t imagine how excited they are to get in [their new homes]."

As Ray and Carrino conquer the rebuilds, they discuss why it's important to make homes that are built “better” and aren’t just “about the aesthetics.”

The trailer concludes with a sneak peek into the recipients' reactions to their new homes, with Ray and Carrino grinning on the sidelines. “Who would ever think that the worst thing that could ever happen to you could actually be joyous later in your life,” says Ray.
