Every year, the Tibet House US nonprofit throws a big benefit show at New York’s Carnegie Hall, and it always features a whole ton of rock and avant-garde legends, many of them performing songs they wouldn’t ordinarily do. Last night was the 30th annual Tibet House benefits, and it doubled as am 80th birthday party for minimalist composer Philip Glass. Glass was on the bill, as were Patti Smith, Sufjan Stevens, Iggy Pop, New Order, Alabama Shakes, and plenty of others. And at the end of the show, Patti Smith led all of them in a big group singalong of her 1988 song “People Have The Power.” Watch some fan-made videos below.
