Watch ‘Late Night’ Correspondent Cuddle With Baby Koalas to ‘Forget Who the President Is’ (Video)

How far would you travel to forget that Donald Trump is the president of the United States? One late-night TV corespondent went all the way to Australia.

“Late Night With Seth Meyers” has partnered with Tourism Australia and that meant that host Seth Meyers was invited down under to check it out. Sadly the NBC host is father to a young baby and his wife is “12 months pregnant,” so he sent his trusty writer Amber Ruffin instead.

“While things are crazy in America, I’m jumping ship to Australia — the land down under,” Ruffin said. “You know what they say about Australia? What happens in Australia, you make a video about and show everybody. I want fun food, friendly wildlife, sports I’ve never heard of … and most importantly, wine,” she added.

After chugging — we mean tasting — a lot of wine, Ruffin gets a lesson in Aussie Rules Football from some pro players. Sadly “punching opponents in the face,” is not one of the rules.

Of course, what we really care about are cute animals, so Ruffin hopped on a plane to Kangaroo Island in South Australia near Adelaide to hop around with some marsupials.

Ruffin got to hang out with crocodiles, baby penguins, emus and “yuck, a snake.” But they all paled in comparison to the bundle of joy that was a baby koala. “I’m going to name you Keshia Knight Pulliam,” Ruffin gushed.

“We have the same hair, pumpkin. Don’t you let white people tell you to straighten your hair, they’re going to tell you that your whole life — don’t do it. You’re beautiful just the way you are.”

By the end of her trip, Ruffin said she “had such a good time, for a moment, I actually forgot who the president was.”

Chris Hemsworth, Danny McBride, Curtis Stone and Jessica Mauboy have all been featured in Tourism Australia’s Dundee campaign, which launched with the “Brian Dundee” Super Bowl ad last month.
