Watch NFL Star Shaquem Griffin Meet an Adorable Young Fan with Limb Difference in Sweet Video

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Shaquem Griffin made a little boy’s day over the weekend — and the entire adorable moment was caught on camera.

Griffin, 23, greeted fans at Brooks Rehabilitation’s Celebrate Independence 2019 event at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. In video of the meet and greet, a little boy with limb difference approaches the step and repeat where Griffin — who also has limb difference — is standing.

The two share a hug, before the NFL star lifts the boy up and the duo poses for photos.

“Thank you everyone that came out to Daily’s Place yesterday to see Shaquem Griffin! We hope you were inspired by his story of pushing past all obstacles to achieve your dreams! #againstallodds,” Brooks Rehabilitation wrote on Facebook.

According to an event page, Griffin was born with amniotic band syndrome, which left his left hand damaged. Extreme pain caused by the amniotic band syndrome eventually led to him getting his hand amputated in 1999 at age 4.

In a Sports Illustrated profile in 2017, Griffin’s mother recalled her young son’s pain being so great she once caught him trying to cut his hand off with a knife.

Griffin told SI that he hopes to inspire others with his success in professional sports.

“If I keep doing what I’m doing, it’s going to create a better future for someone else,” he said. “It just goes on and on. … Maybe I can help this kid who can help another kid who can help a thousand kids later.”
