Watch NEEDTOBREATHE and Carly Pearce Team Up on Emotional 'Fall on Me' Music Video (Exclusive)

Pearce says it was an "honor" to collaborate with NEEDTOBREATHE on a song and video off of their latest album "CAVES"

NEEDTOBREATHE and Carly Pearce are tugging at heartstrings with the accompanying visuals for their new collaborative track “Fall on Me.”

In the song’s music video, premiered exclusively with PEOPLE, the Grammy-nominated rock band and Pearce take viewers on a journey through love, loss, and realization through carefully curated visuals of an individual longing for quality time with his daughter and father.

“This song and video are about the relationships in our lives that we depend and lean on when things feel scary or new,” NEEDTOBREATHE tells PEOPLE of the genesis of “Fall on Me.” The band further noted that “Life is tough but it’s comforting to know you are surrounded by people who love you and have your back.”

The video follows the story of an unnamed father and daughter duo. After helping pack all of his daughter’s belongings into a car, the father emotionally embraces her on their home’s front porch. When he sends her on her way, he begins looking at photographs from her childhood on his phone, spurring a visceral reaction that leads him to run through city streets until he reaches the home of what is presumably his own father, whom he hugs deeply before the visual ends.

For Pearce, collaborating with NEEDTOBREATHE on “Fall on Me” was particularly special as she is a longtime fan of their work. “Years ago I bought a ticket and went by myself to see NEEDTOBREATHE live because I was such a fan,” the singer tells PEOPLE. “It is such an honor that they asked me to be on a song with them.”

“Fall on Me” is another tasteful instance of NEEDTOBREATHE collaborating with filmmaker and friend Gus Black, who has taken part in many of the band’s videos in the past. “He has done many videos for us over the years and we feel like he beautifully captured what it feels like to love and be human,” NEEDTOBREATHE tells PEOPLE of their relationship with Black.

All-in-all, the award-winning musicians "hope the song means as much to you, as it does to us.” “Fall on Me” was released as a part of NEEDTOBREATHE’s latest album, CAVES, which hit streaming services on Sept. 15. The new project also features the likes of Judah & The Lion, Old Dominion and Foy Vance.
