Two months after Beth Chapman died following suffering a year with throat and lung cancer, the “Dog’s Most Wanted” star will make her last appearance on the reality show Wednesday in a heartbreaking clip of the moment she learned her cancer had returned.
In the video above, Duane “the Dog” bounty hunter, is driving with their daughter Cecily in the back seat, as Beth gets a call from her doctor.
“I got some test results back on your immunotherapy,” the doctor can be heard saying. “And I hate to say it, but unfortunately, your tumor is not improving based on the immunotherapy.”
The doctor continues: “I need to advise you to start with some chemotherapy.”
Dog cuts the doctor short, thanking him. Concern covers his and Beth’s faces.
“I need to schedule a time to get you in as soon as possible. Would next Monday work?” the doctor asks.
“No, no, no,” Beth says, her voice cracking. “I need to process it first and call you back.”
As the call is ending, she starts to break down.
On June 26, Chapman confirmed the news of his wife’s death, writing in a tweet, “It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”
Beth announced she was diagnosed with Stage 2 throat cancer in September 2017, but just two months later during a two-hour A&E special “Dog & Beth: Fight of Their Lives,” Dog received a call from a pathologist saying his wife was cancer-free. In November 2018, she underwent emergency surgery to remove a blockage in her throat, at which time it was discovered that the cancer had spread to her lungs.
Her funeral was live-streamed on WGNAmerica.com and the “Dog’s Most Wanted” Facebook page from Heritage Christian Center in Aurora, Colorado, on July 13.
This episode of “Dog’s Most Wanted” can be seen Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. ET on WGN America.
