Maluma stopped by The Tonight Show to perform his vibe-laden single “Según Quién.” The musician gave a slick performance of the pop-norteño track, a collaboration with Carin Leon that was released in August, with the help of his band.

The Colombian musician later sat down with host Jimmy Fallon to chat about his recent album, Don Juan, which has garnered over a billion streams since its release this summer. He also discussed being a groomsman in Marc Anthony’s star-studded wedding and, of course, the TikTok trend for “Según Quién.”

“I was like, I don’t get it,” Maluma said of when he first saw people doing the TikTok trend for the single. “Is that a trend or is that a challenge? Yeah! All these kids are doing it! So I started doing it and then right now on TikTok the video has already like 40 million views.”

Maluma has been hitting the U.S. on tour over the past month in support of Don Juan on his Don Juan World Tour. He kicked off the trek on Aug. 31 in Sacramento, stopping in cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, Dallas, Boston, and Orlando. He’ll end his tour in Miami on Nov. 4.

Last August, he spoke to Rolling Stone about his musical influences as he worked on Don Juan. “My family, a lot. A lot, a lot. I feel like I’m coming back to my roots,” he said at the time. “When I went out from Medellín with my music around the world, I felt like I was losing a little bit of myself. Then I was doing some songs that, OK, maybe they were hits, but I didn’t feel like that was my essence.”

“Now I want to be successful, but in a more personal way,” he said. “I want to go back to Medellín, I want to go back to my farm, be there with my family, with my friends, with my animals. That’s what inspires me right now.”
