The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is such an audience favorite that it’s enshrined in pop culture, thanks to Miracle on 34th Street, Seinfeld, Friends and more. This year, Verizon will once again bring the star-studded event, powered by 5G technology, to the masses right here at Yahoo Entertainment.

On Nov. 28, the live broadcast of the pre-show begins at 8:30 a.m. ET, and the parade kicks off at 9 a.m. ET. That’s when upwards of 8,000 people and dozens of oversized balloons will begin snaking through two miles of Manhattan for a show millions will watch.

Here’s what to expect:

Lilly Singh! Terry Crews! And so many more

As always, the parade will be stocked with stars from TV, film and stage.

Actor Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and talk show host Lilly Singh, of A Little Late With Lilly Singh, are two of the many hosts involved. Today stars Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Hoda Kotb will continue to lead the overall coverage.

Many more recognizable faces will be on hand, including Ciara, Idina Menzel and the cast of Sesame Street. Viewers will see holographic celebrities throughout the route, too. Perhaps the most exciting peeps set to appear — well, most exciting for some of us — are the Muppets.

A fresh look for a storied tradition

The parade, which was first held in 1924, will look better than ever to viewers in 2019. All the action will be captured on multiple cameras, as a Verizon 360° experience, and the event will be packed with extras. (Consider it the crumbly topping on your already delicious sweet potato casserole. Yes, please!)

For instance, virtual balloons will appear and change based on viewer feedback.

About those balloons...

There are going to be a lot of them. The lineup for the 93rd parade includes 40 novelty balloons and 16 character balloons.

They’ll be on display alongside 26 floats, including ones devoted to Lego toys (a giant turkey!), luxury brand Coach and New York Life. The insurance brand’s entry is a giant dollhouse, with each room depicting a family milestone.

And all of that happens before Santa Claus rolls through at the end.
