Jimmy Kimmel quipped that Donald Trump was up past his “jail time” while hosting the Oscars on Sunday night. While it was a joke, the late-night host admitted on Jimmy Kimmel Live that it got him thinking what would happen if Trump actually lands himself in prison.

“It made me wonder, if justice prevails and Trump does go prison what will his life be like?” Kimmel said. “So I met with a group of non-violent former inmates—these are guys who’ve done real time—to ask, what can our former president expect behind bars and what can he do to prepare himself for prison?”

In the clip, each former inmate introduces himself and explains his prison sentence before sitting down with Kimmel in a round-table discussion. First, Kimmel asked the group to describe what Trump’s prison sentence might be like if “God forbid he goes in.” The former inmates quickly agreed that Trump “will fit right in.”

Kimmel then asked what group Trump would be in since there are racial divisions in prison. “Is there an orange [one]?” he queried. He also wondered, “How hard would it be for him to smuggle in a bucket of KFC? How hard would it be for him to make the 11 herds and spices in the toilet? Is that possible? Did you guys do any toilet cooking in prison?”

One of the inmates confirmed that while the food can be good a lot of it is soy-based. “Oh, he’s probably never had soy in his whole life,” Kimmel replied.

Later, Kimmel asked if the inmates would recommend that Trump get some tattoos before heading behind bars. “Definitely he should,” one replied, adding that the former president should get the White House or a portrait of himself emblazoned on his body. “What about one of those little teardrops on the side?” Kimmel asked, pointing to his eye. “Well, he killed Roe vs. Wade,” one of the guys replied after everyone said Trump would have to earn the teardrop.

The group then used action figures to hilariously enact what Trump’s time in the prison yard might be like.

During the Oscars on Sunday, Kimmel read a disgruntled, borderline incomprehensible review of the awards show from Trump posted on Truth Social. Speaking with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos in a post-show interview, Kimmel recalled being told (ostensibly by the show’s producers) that he “had a little bit of time” before the final big awards were given out. His response was immediate: “I’m reading the Trump tweet. They were like, ‘No, no, don’t read it!’ Oh yes, I am!”

After he read the post, Kimmel joked, “See if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social? Anyone? No? Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still up — isn’t it past your jail time?”

Trump is in the midst of several legal cases, including an upcoming criminal trial in Manhattan. The criminal case, brought by the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, stems from secret payments, including to porn star Stormy Daniels, that prosecutors allege candidate Trump ordered to be paid out to suppress salacious and potentially embarrassing news stories in order to boost his 2016 campaign.
