They say never to meet your heroes. As a journalist, though, I've always ignored that rule by reaching out to countless celebs from the TV and sports worlds for interviews.

Recently, I had a phenomenal chat with "Impractical Jokers" star and comedian Sal Vulcano. He was great during our entire conversation. Funny, friendly and thoughtful.

However, during one question, his humor blindsided me.

Vulcano is visiting Cincinnati's Taft Theatre on Sept. 30, and I was curious about what fans can expect. He tours around with his "Impractical Jokers" castmates, but his solo stand-up show is very different. It's more intimate.

Or at least that's what I initially expected, until he threw me for a loop.

"Well, I do have a lot of pyrotechnics. We actually do one thing, where they put me on a wire and I go up," he said.

Wait what?

"A lot of times, stand-up is they just stand there, but I kind of wanted to make it like: You know Pink? You know how she does her show?" he continued. "Yeah so they tie me up to these things, they pull me up. I do the jokes while I'm swinging. And there's pyrotechnics and stuff."

OK, when reading this quote now, I fully know I shouldn't have bought it. This sounds ridiculous. But his delivery was as serious as an NPR show, and it felt like he was just reliving his nightly routine.

Then came the punchline.

"I'm completely joking."

I felt like an idiot, but the moment was pretty funny and we caught it on video. Watch the clip above and be on the lookout for the full story from our conversation to come out on Cincinnati.com.
