Hoda Kotb is thrilled about the return of a fan favorite character on a popular TV show and it's also giving her the chance to share how she feels about old romantic flames.

In late April, the Today show co-host discussed John Corbett coming back as Aidan Shaw on And Just Like That... season 2 and seeing old partners after the relationship ended. As the topic went on, Hoda surprised fellow co-anchor Jenna Bush Hager by making an unexpected romantic confession. When asked if there was someone she thought "what if" about, Hoda circled around giving a concrete answer.

"Most people don't have one person that they're like, 'what if.' Do you have one?" Jenna said in a clip posted on Twitter on April 27.

"No, I don't think so," Hoda replied. "That was not a no!" Jenna quipped.

As Jenna continued pressing her friend on the subject, Hoda eventually gave a more sentimental answer. When asked if there was someone from the past she'd get together with should the opportunity arise, she said yes.

"Was there one that if... like Aidan, showed up at your doorstep, would there be just a moment?" Jenna inquired. "Probably, yeah. There would be," Hoda said with a smile.

The surprise reveal not only left Jenna speechless, but it left Today show fans feeling for the broadcast journalist. "I’m currently dating my 'what if' boyfriend from college that I had not seen in 30 years," one person wrote on TikTok. "I ran into my [high school] crush last [Saturday] after 40 years. I still love him," another follower replied. "When you love someone that never ends," a different fan noted.

Viewers know that Hoda ended her engagement to fiancé Joel Schiffman in January 2022 after dating for almost a decade. While she's since gone on a journey as a single mom to daughters Haley Joy, 6 and Hope Catherine, 3, she still finds levity in her quest for love.

"I asked a guy, I remember one time, like, 'What was a love that was kind of unrequited?'" she explained later on in the video. "He was like, 'There was this girl and I met her and it was in a store and we just had this great connection and then I never saw her again.' I 'm like, 'That's not it!'"

Needless to say, we understand Hoda's outlook on romance and we hope to see her find that spark again in the future.
