Watch Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney Pretend They're In Love in New “Anyone But You” Trailer

'Anyone But You' releases in theaters Dec. 22

Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney try hard not to fall in love in their new rom-com.

Sony Pictures released a new trailer for Anyone But You on Thursday, showcasing Powell, 35, and Sweeney, 26, as a pair of destination wedding attendees. At Bea's sister's wedding, friends remark that Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell) once shared a fling during a break in Bea's last relationship. Bea meanwhile learns that Ben's ex-girlfriend — who "crushed his heart" — is also at the wedding.

When Bea's parents arrive for the celebration with her ex Jonathan in tow, she and Ben strike a deal to pretend they are dating in order to keep her parents from convincing her to return to her ex, and for Ben to woo his ex back.

In order to do that, the pair must pretend they actually enjoy each other's company and summon the initial attraction they had for each other when they first met. As the wedding weekend moves forward, Ben and Bea's fake-couple hijinks grow more ridiculous, and they begin to wonder whether they actually do belong together.

"Bea and Ben look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold - until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia," reads an official synopsis for the movie. "So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple."

Anyone But You has been on romantic comedy fans' radars for months after Sweeney shared a number of snapshots from the film's production in Australia back in April. That same month, the costars appeared together at CinemaCon 2023 in Las Vegas, where they pitched the movie as revolving around "two people that hate each other."

Powell's split from his ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris around the same time Anyone But You filmed in the spring also gave way to rumors that the costars were engaged in an offscreen romance. "When all that stuff happened, you know, publicly, it felt disorienting and unfair," he recently told Men's Health of the rumors. "But what I’m realizing is that’s just a part of this gig now."

Anyone But You is directed by Will Gluck (Easy A); Gluck cowrote the movie with Ilana Wolpert, best known for her work on Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The film's cast also includes Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet and Rachel Griffiths.

Anyone But You releases in theaters Dec. 22.
