Today’s the day: The Game Awards, honoring the best of the game industry of 2023, will take place Thursday, and the show is free to watch online across more than two dozen platforms.

The 10th annual Game Awards show will stream live from L.A.’s Peacock Theater on Thursday, Dec. 7, starting at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET. In addition to revealing the winners in 31 categories, the event has other big reveals in store — including premiere announcements and trailer drops — plus live music performances and celebrity appearances.

Among the presenters are: Timothée Chalamet, star of “Wonka” and “Dune,” Anthony Mackie (Peacock’s “Twisted Metal”), actor Christopher Judge (“God of War” and “God of War Ragnarök”), DJ and producer Zedd and… The Muppets’ Gonzo.

The 2023 Game Awards nominees span 112 different games, individuals, teams and events across multiple genres and platforms (see the full list here). The nominees are selected by a global jury of individuals from more than 100 media publications and influencer outlets.

Six titles are vying for the coveted crown of Game of the Year this year: Alan Wake 2 (Remedy Entertainment), Baldur’s Gate 3 (Larian Studios); Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (Insomniac Games), Resident Evil 4 (Capcom), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Nintendo) and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo). “This just happened to be a juggernaut of a year,” The Game Awards creator and host Geoff Keighley told Variety last month. “When you look at the nominees for Game of the Year, they’re all pretty big established franchises: sequels, remakes, things like that… They’re all these massive franchises.”
