Watch Future Movie Star Chris Pratt Act Out Road House on Parks and Rec

Chris Pratt is such a huge star these days, we’re sure he already has his next ten movies lined up… but might we suggest a Road House remake?

With Pratt’s latest big-screen blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opening this weekend, we thought we’d take a look back at Pratt’s humble beginnings — in ye olden times of 2012 — as lovable lug Andy Dwyer on NBC’s Parks and Recreation. Here, in Season 4’s “The Debate,” Pratt foreshadows his action-hero stardom with a hilariously accurate recreation of the 1989 Patrick Swayze classic Road House.

Guests are gathered to watch Leslie Knope’s city council debate, but since the cable is on the fritz, Andy entertains them by acting out his favorite Road House scenes. Pratt isn’t quite in Marvel movie shape yet, but he’s undeniably spry as Andy demonstrates Swayze’s Dalton scissor-kicking a bad guy and tearing out his throat, before explaining to the crowd why that’s bad: “You can’t eat. You’ll starve to death.”

Parks and Rec showrunner Michael Schur says Pratt improvised most of the dialogue in that scene on his own, telling The A.V. Club back in 2012: “He is one of the funniest people on TV. Week after week after week, everything that guy does is funny. I think he’s destined to be like an enormous, enormous movie star.” Wow… got any lottery numbers for us while you’re predicting stuff, Mike?
