Watch Frances Bean Cobain Sing Her First Original Song

“I think I saw you when I was small,” she sings on the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death

Frances Bean Cobain shared her first clip of original music last night, apparently tied to the anniversary of her father Kurt Cobain’s death on April 5, 1994. “I think I saw you when I was small,” Frances Bean sings in the clip. “I think I found you,” she adds later in the verse. “Jesus hangs in your place on the cross/All these hinges become unscrewed/Heaven knows it was a cage on earth.” Watch the Instagram video below.

In the caption, Cobain wrote, “there are so many memeable moments in this clip...I’m SUPER restless because i can’t play guitar with long nails so I’m just sitting in my room alone singin to mah self.” Commenting on the post, she shares “a very freaky deeky” lyric not featured in the recording, as NME points out: “Stable sable sold her heart/No one asks her why she hides it in a casket in her house in a box/Find a fiend who reigns supreme in May/Fast enough for blooming buds to lay their eggs.” She later comments that it “doesn’t have a title yet because it’s still a baby song.”

Cobain shared her first music in 2016, when she covered Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle.” She’s also an artist and model.
