One step away.

Following Florida State's 1-0 semifinal victory over Rutgers on Friday, the Seminoles now find themselves one step from a third NCAA women's soccer title.

On Monday, the Seminoles (21-1-2) take on Brigham Young in the College Cup championship game. Game time is 6 p.m. at Stevens Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Florida State was able to beat Rutgers on Jaelin Howell's 71st-minute goal. Howell's clutch goal was enough, thanks to three saves down the stretch by goalkeeper Christina Roque.

The Seminoles have also beaten South Alabama, SMU and Pepperdine by wide margins before a 1-0 overtime nailbiter in the quarterfinals against Michigan.

The Cougars (17-4-2) needed penalty kicks to advance to the finals after tying 0-0 in regulation, knocking out the home team, Santa Clara. BYU fell behind early, missing its first two kicks, but the Cougars were able to maintain their poise. Cassidy Smith, BYU's goalkeeper, made a huge save, and Santa Clara's final shot pinged off the post for a 3-2 Cougars win in the shootout.
