Max Thieriot as Bode Leone in 'Fire Country' Season 2

This week’s Fire Country Season 2 finale promises to be a jam-packed, highly consequential hour. Just look at everything that happens in this promo, which Parade can exclusively share.

It starts with a flashback to the previous episode, where Bode’s (Max Thieriot) heroism in saving his father from a fire earned him an early release, and then confirms that this is really happening. Bode’s release papers are stamped, his sentence is over, he’s a free man.

We see him leave Three Rock in street clothes, getting a cheer from the inmates. It’s very exciting.

But with freedom comes complications.

“Now that I’m out, I need something to get me up in the morning,” he says. Jake (Jordan Calloway) reminds him that he’s a firefighter. “Used to be,” Bode says. “Now that I might not ever get to do it again, it’s killing me.”

The wedding

And then there’s Gabriela’s (Stephanie Arcila) wedding to Diego (Rafael de la Fuente). “Bode gave me a kiss. Diego is offering me a life,” she says. (Did she forget that she initiated that kiss?) Manny (Kevin Alejandro) did in fact make it out of the woods to be able to walk his daughter down the aisle.

But Bode can’t let it happen. He’s going to have to speak now or forever hold his peace.

Freddy (W. Tré Davis), Bode’s old friend from Three Rock who he helped free at the end of Season 1, will appear in this episode. Freddy encourages Bode to tell Gabriela how he feels. “Since when do you let anything get in the way of what you want?” Freddy says. “In the name of your whole life’s happiness, go get your girl, Bode.”

The song

The teaser is soundtracked by a brand new single from chart-topping country singer-songwriter Chase Rice, “Fireside.” Rice is good friends with Max Thieriot and has even spent some time shadowing wildland firefighters himself.

The much-hyped new song is very appropriate to Fire Country, with a chorus that goes:

Let it burn

Love me on the fireside

Come on, baby, let it burn

Love me on the fireside

Come burn with me

Burn with me

Rice will release a new album and tour this summer.

Fire Country’s Season 2 finale airs Friday, May 17 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. The series is available to stream on Paramount+.
