Watch Disneyland unleash adorable free-roaming“ Star Wars” droids that can dance and get super mad
The cutest, sweetest little baby angels in the entire Star Wars universe have finally landed at Disney parks.
Disney Imagineering made the stunning reveal in a pair of TikTok videos showing off new technology that allows the irresistibly adorable free-roaming droids — which they dubbed "droids-in-training" — to interact with guests inside Disneyland's Star Wars–themed Galaxy's Edge land in Anaheim, Calif.
"The robots actually learn to imitate artistic motion — that's the secret sauce to make them work so quickly. They can actually emote and learn to dance," Moritz Bächer, associate lab director at Disney Research, said in one of the clips, which also shows the characters grooving and sporting glowing eyes when something annoys them. "They can get really angry and the eyes turn red. They walk over uneven terrain. They can still balance. They're really robust."
Another video features a trio of droids listening to commands from a Disneyland cast member, with the robots turning around to face guests in unison.
Joel Peavy, an executive R&D Imagineer for Disney, said the droids are in a "play test" mode at the moment but that the team is "really excited to see the guests' reaction" and "where it might go in the future."
While Galaxy's Edge boasts two locations — one in Disneyland, and one at Walt Disney World — the preview is currently underway at the California resort. EW has reached out to representatives for more information.

The free-roaming droids mark a long-gestating announcement that such features would debut inside the Galaxy's Edge lands, as that specific detail was included in the Disney's initial tease of the projects back in 2015.
