Watch Debra Messing’s GLAAD Media Awards Speech: ‘Ivanka, Please Stop Blindly Defending Your Father’

“It’s time to make American gay again!” proclaimed Debra Messing during her acceptance speech for the excellence in media award at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday (May 6).

“I’m very emotional,” Debra Messing said. “When Vice President Biden said to Meet the Press that Will & Grace had done more to educate the country about LGBT issues than anything else — besides the birth of my son, that was the proudest moment of my life. And I think tonight’s the third.”

The actress was honored for her vocal activism for the LGBTQ community. During her speech, she nodded to Smash, talked about the “very bad, and very orange man” in the White House and made a direct appeal to Ivanka Trump:
