Watch Corrections Officer Olivia Calderon Stun ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judges With Spanish-Language ‘My Way’

America’s Got Talent got a much-needed Latin flavor on its most recent audition, thanks to 47-year-old detention officer Olivia Calderon from Tempe, Arizona.

“Singing is how I destress from the stress of work,” she explained of her understandable difficult job. She noted that she got two degrees in college, one in vocal performance and the other in criminal justice, but put her music dreams on hold to take care of her father who died four years ago.

She took the stage to perform Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” in Spanish. The performance was met with applause throughout and a standing ovation at the end. Though judge Howie Mandel called the act “not my cup of tea,” the others wholeheartedly disagreed.

“You have a drama about you when you perform,” Simon Cowell told Calderon, before she got three passes into the next round. Watch her audition below, and catch America’s Got Talent on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
