After a long hiatus; season three of Bridgerton, the Regency-set period romance from Netflix and Shondaland, is back—and this time, the story focuses in on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
"It feels quite surreal. I mean, I know for the fans of the show, they've been waiting for what feels like forever," Coughlan told Town & Country. “It's been certainly a lesson in patience."
She continued, "It's really interesting because when the show first came out, we couldn't have fathom that kind of response and the hundreds of millions of viewers globally. Sometimes the world and the audiences in the world will tell you what they need—and the world can be a dark, scary, difficult place, and this show just celebrates joy in such an unashamed, beautiful way."
Here's how to tune in.
Bridgerton is available to watch on Netflix.
All episodes of the second season will drop at once, making for optimal binge-watching. And if need to catch up before the premiere, season one is all available to stream. If you don't already have a Netflix subscription, sign up here. Plans range from $6.99 to $29.99 a month.
Do you need to read the Bridgerton books before tuning in?
You certainly don't have to—the Netflix series stands on its own. But author Julia Quinn, who penned the novels the show is based on, has shared that there are a few Easter eggs in the script that only book readers will truly appreciate.
"There are definitely little references that both will be kind of fun for readers, but also potentially set things up for the future," she told T&C. "The writers have clearly gone through all eight books with a fine tooth comb and are setting up things for, fingers crossed, more seasons."
