Watch Bill Callahan Perform a “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert”

Bill Callahan and his band have played a “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert” for NPR, running through a handful of tracks from the singer-songwriter’s latest pair of albums. Watch them perform “Pigeons,” “Released,” “Another Song,” and “The Mackenzies” outside Callahan’s home below.

Asked by NPR how he feels about the world, Callahan wrote:

There are a lot of voices these days. So many that, I think, even positive sentiments become detrimental in their deafening number. Quiet reflection can be the clearest and most informative and soothing voice you’ll ever hear. There are many unknowns at this time in history. It's more than a junction in our old world. It’s the possibility of a whole new world. A large part of me believes this. Listen to music, read books, talk to friends and family. Don’t listen to the voices, not even mine!

Callahan released Gold Record last week, a year on from predecessor Shepherd in a Sheepskin Vest, from which “Released” is taken. In the interim, Callahan released or recorded a handful of covers, taking on Silver Jews’ “I Remember Me,” Lee Clayton’s “If You Could Touch Her at All,” and Leonard Cohen’s “So Long, Marianne.”
