Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Edjiofor play an estranged couple in London who reconnect when they figure out they could pull off a heist at Harrod's during coronavirus lockdown.

Anne Hathaway is no stranger to planning a jewel heist, having played characters with key roles in modern Robin Hood-like schemes in films like Ocean's 8 and The Hustle.

Her new movie Locked Down couldn't be more different though, involving timely circumstances that have proven to be stranger than fiction.

The new HBO Max film centers on the couple Linda and Paxton, played by Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor respectively, who were ready to part ways before the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in London, but are now stuck together amid the mandatory lockdown.

Each finding their jobs, and the fact they have to still be around each other increasingly draining, they soon come upon a way where if they work together, they can amass a fortune, give back to those currently suffering, and escape from their misery.

Locked Down is one of the first movies to be conceived, written, shot, finished, and released during the pandemic. It's directed by Doug Liman with a screenplay from Steven Knight.

Watch the exclusive clip above to see how the quick-witted couple sort through the pros and cons of pulling off a heist while the rest of the city shelters in place.

Locked Down will begin streaming on HBO Max on Jan. 14.
