Watch a Scary New Millennium Falcon Scene in the Chinese 'Force Awakens' Trailer

The U.S. theatrical premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is little more than a week away, but Chinese audiences have to wait until Jan. 9. Maybe that’s why Disney saved some brand-new Star Wars footage for this new Chinese trailer (with an introduction from the official Chinese Star Wars ambassador, K-pop star LuHan). Watch it above, but be warned: It’s getting spoiler-y in here…

Perhaps the most striking moment happens late in the clip, during a spectacular — and totally scary — new shot of the Millennium Falcon crashing hard into the snow.

The Chinese trailer also puts all those snippets we’ve seen of The Force Awakens into what appears to be chronological order. We’ve got Kylo announcing his sinister plan, the First Order attacking Jakku, and Rey and Finn escaping via the Falcon, followed by lots of exciting battle footage. Other new moments include Han Solo giving the Falcon a pep talk, BB-8 beeping adorably as he’s tossed around the ship, and X-wing pilot Poe Dameron once again echoing Han Solo’s “We’re gonna have company” line from A New Hope. (Hopefully he has a little more to say in the actual film.)

Though the Star Wars prequels were released theatrically in China, the original Star Wars trilogy was not. (The films became available on Chinese VOD just three months ago, following their first-ever Chinese theatrical screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival.) Lucasfilm has been working hard to build excitement for The Force Awakens in the world’s second-largest film market, and has announced plans to build a Star Wars attraction at Shanghai Disneyland.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in the U.S. on Dec. 18. For Yahoo Movies’ complete coverage, go here.
