The Hollywood Foreign Press Association always, always has a few big surprises when it comes to the nominees for the Golden Globes Awards. Monday morning’s announcement the 74th edition was no exception.

There were major films long presumed to be contenders, like Clint Eastwood’s Sully and Martin Scorsese’s Silence, left off the ballot completely. There was a host of nominated actors until now considered longshots at best, like Jonah Hill (War Dogs), Lily Collins (Rules Don’t Apply), Simon Helberg (Florence Foster Jenkins), Viggo Mortensen (Captain Fantastic), and Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures).

And then there’s that movie we had no expectation to receive any nominations, but there it was crashing the Musical/Comedy category. We’re talking, of course, about Lonely Island’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
