The Tournament of Roses is back. After returning last year following canceled festivities, the 135th Rose Parade will march down Pasadena’s Colorado Boulevard on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. (The event has held a “Never on a Sunday” tradition since 1893.)

Tony Award-winning actress and singer Audra McDonald is the grand marshal of the floral float-filled festivities, which will air live starting at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET on local ABC and NBC channels, as well as KTLA-5 (in Greater Los Angeles) and Univision, and will stream on DirecTV Stream, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV and Sling. NCAA football teams the Michigan Wolverines and the Alabama Crimson Tide will play against each other in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl 2024 — which begins at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET and takes place at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl stadium. Viewers with a traditional cable subscription can tune into ABC, NBC, KTLA-5 (in Greater Los Angeles), and Univision, which all have the rights to air the 2024 annual Rose Parade, while the Rose Bowl game is on ESPN. 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade: How to Buy Tickets

The 2024 theme is “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language.” which “brings us together through music. In a world of different cultures, beliefs, hopes, and dreams, one language unites us all — music. The sound, texture, rhythm, form, harmony, and expression meld together to move, soothe, excite and delight the world,” explained Tournament of Roses President Alex Aghajanian in a press release. “From bossa nova to blues, classical to country, metal to mariachi and rock to rap, thousands of genres invite us to become one in celebrating a world of music. Whether near or far, young or old, we invite you to year-long festivities that culminate on New Year’s Day at the Rose Parade. Let the music begin!”

Pop singer David Archuleta will kick off the parade with a special performance presented by Honda, while Grammy-nominated artist Jordin Sparks will close out the festivities with a grand finale presented by Mansion Entertainment Group.

Live spectators and viewers at home can expect to see floats from brands, corporations, nonprofits including the Kaiser Permanente, DirecTV, Lions International, Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Pasadena Humane, San Diego Zoo, Trader Joe’s and more. Southern California cities such as Burbank, South Pasadena and Torrance will also roll through with botanical-covered creations.

The 2024 Rose Queen is Arcadia High School student Naomi Stillitano, a senior who wants to study fashion design and marketing at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Milano Fashion Institute, Pasadena City College or the University of Southern California. Per a release, she’s the co-president of the Italian Culture Club, a dancer and actress with the Arcadia Stage Theater and a former-swimmer on the Rose Bowl Swim Team.
