How to Watch the Oscars 2024 Around the World
If you are excited to find out who wins the Oscars 2024, want to see what host Jimmy Kimmel brings to this year’s ceremony and experience all the glitz and glamour they bring out in L.A. this Sunday, March 10, you can watch the 96th Academy Awards on TV or online in many countries around the world. Unless, you have one of the rare tickets to attend in person, of course.
As is tradition, ABC will be broadcasting the ceremony in the U.S., along with showing it on abc.com and the ABC app and streaming services that carry ABC, including DirecTV, Hulu + Live TV, Verizon and Sling. The big show kicks off at the new time of 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.

Plus, keep in mind that Oscar day is the first day of the U.S. switching to Daylight Saving Time this year, meaning clocks in the U.S. are advanced by an hour starting from March 10. So watch out if watching from abroad as some countries don’t change clocks and others do so on different dates. For example, Europe, including the U.K., will change to summertime on March 31 this year.
For the fourth year in a row, China will not air the Oscars. The Academy Awards ceremony will, however, be back on air in the former colony of Hong Kong, along with most major countries and territories around the globe.
So, people living or traveling in other parts of the world will have various ways to watch the red carpet, awards presentations and acceptance speeches.

Australia
Channel 7, and its 7Plus streamer, is the Oscars’ established home down under, with the outlets taking over from Nine Network a few years ago. The ceremony starts around 10 a.m. local time on Monday, with a primetime encore at 8:45 p.m. To catch the E! pre-ceremony red carpet show down under, head to 7Bravo from 8 a.m.
Canada
CTV returns as Canada’s go-to telecast for the Oscars. Blanket coverage of Hollywood’s biggest night on the national network CTV and its CTV.ca app kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with Countdown to the Oscars, which showcases nominees, presenters and performers. The 96th Academy Awards will then air live from 7 p.m. ET, using the ABC feed.
The popular eTalk show with celebrity interviews from the red carpet in Los Angeles has shifted online to social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok and X. CTV-parent has a choice spot on the Oscar red carpet as the Canadian rights holder.
Immediately after the Oscars ceremony, eTalk hosts will return for a 30-minute live show on CTV and online to break down the awards night highlights.
New Zealand
Disney+, which has rights for the Oscars in multiple international territories, will be the spot for Kiwis to catch the red carpet and official ceremony this year.
United Kingdom
Comcast-owned European pay TV giant Sky had held the exclusive rights to the big awards ceremony for years, but now ITV is the new home of the Oscars in the U.K.
“For the first time in almost two decades, U.K. viewers can experience the glitz and the glamor of the Oscars completely free and exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX with a raft of programming to celebrate the highly anticipated awards,” ITV touted recently.
From 10:15 p.m. London time on Sunday, viewers can join Jonathan Ross on the flagship network and the streamer for Oscars Live, which ITV promises will be “the ultimate Oscars party with a special show bringing all of Hollywood’s action to U.K. viewers,” with Ross being joined by “a panel of movie-loving stars and special guests.”
Before that, movie buffs can catch the live stream of the Oscars red carpet exclusively on ITVX from 9 p.m., “with Ross King broadcasting directly from the event at the Dolby Theatre in L.A.,” ITV said. “In exciting sneak peeks, viewers can also delve into brand new, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, which is only available to watch in the U.K. on ITVX, which will be loaded onto the platform throughout the night.”
For people who aren’t night owls, ITV is lining up a chance to catch up on Monday. “The next day, continue to enjoy awards season, either by streaming the full ceremony over breakfast or with a 90-minute highlights package of the ceremony, airing on ITV1 at 10:45 p.m. on Monday,” the company said. Plus, both versions will be available to stream on the ITVX pop-up Oscars page for three weeks.
EUROPE
Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania)
Baltic viewers can catch the red carpet and ceremony for the 96th Academy Awards on the Duo networks (Duo 3, 4, 5, and 6 will all carry Oscar coverage), Kanal 2, Kanal 7, Kanal 7+, and on Baltic-based movie channels Filmzone, Filmzone+, and Kidzone.
Bulgaria
Nova Television (NTV) will be hosting the Oscar ceremony for Bulgarian viewers,
Belgium
In Belgium, pay-TV channel Pickx+ is the only French-language channel carrying the Oscars (also for French-speaking Luxembourg viewers) with coverage kicking off at 11:50 p.m. on Sunday. As is tradition, Telenet and VOD service GoPlay will provide Flemish coverage.
Croatia
National networks HRT 1 and HRT 2 are the official Croatian broadcasters of the 2024 Oscars.
Czech Republic
Public broadcasters CT1 and CT2, as well as arts network CT Art will cover the lead up to the ceremony as well as the Oscars, with film critic and historian Šárka Jelínek Gmiterková commenting live alongside moderator Helena Koutná.
Denmark
Free-to-air broadcaster TV2 and its VOD service TV2 Play will carry the 95th Academy Awards, starting from 10:05 pm local time on Sunday. Red carpet coverage begins at 11:30 pm.
Finland
Public broadcaster YLE is again carrying the Academy Awards ceremony and viewers can watch on the YLE Teema Fem or YLE Areena channels.
France
Canal+, part of media conglomerate Vivendi, is France’s Oscar network and will be starting live red carpet coverage from 11:35 p.m. Sunday night, with the Oscar ceremony kicking off at 1 a.m. Monday local time. French viewers can watch live on Canal+ or on VOD service myCanal. The entire 2024 ceremony will be rebroadcast on Canal+ from 10:56 p.m. Monday evening.
Germany
Long-time broadcaster partner ProSieben will again host the Oscars, live-streaming the awards and the lead-up to the event, kicking off with red carpet arrivals at 9:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 10, on its VOD service Joyn. From 11:25 p.m., ProSieben and Joyn will carry the 2024 Oscars live. Viewers can also watch on prosieben.de and on the ProSieben app. The network will show Oscar highlights on Monday, March 11 on its main commercial channel from 5 PM local time.
Hungary
Disney+ will be carrying the 96th Oscars for Hungarian viewers.
Iceland
Icelandic pay-TV network Stod 2 will be the main broadcaster for the Oscars this year.
Ireland
Irish Oscar fans can catch the red carpet and the ceremony for the 2024 Academy Awards on national broadcaster RTE, on RTE2 and on the RTE Player. The Celtic crowd will be cheering on hometown hero Cillian Murphy, best actor nominee for Oppenheimer, as well as best picture nominee Poor Things, produced by Ireland’s Element Pictures.
Italy
After many years on pay-TV network Sky Italia, the Oscars are returning to free-to-air in Italy and will be carried on broadcast on public network Rai and its VOD service RaiPlay, with coverage, hosted by Alberto Matano, kicking off at 11:30 PM Sunday night. Italy has a strong contender in the best international feature category this year with Matteo Garrone’s Io Capitano.
Norway
In Norway, Disney+ has the rights to the Oscars and will start coverage at 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.
Netherlands
In the Netherlands, the digital FilmBox channel is your go-to network for the Academy Awards, with coverage beginning at 2 a.m. Monday local time.
Poland
Long-time Oscar broadcaster Canal + will again carry the red carpet and official ceremony with commentary for Polish viewers, who can also watch on the Canal+’s Player+ of myCanal platforms.
Portugal
RTP has the exclusive live rights to the Academy Awards in Portugal, with coverage running on the main channel, RTP1, from 1 to 4 a.m. Monday local time.
Romania (and Moldovia)
Leading Romanian commercial channel ProTV will be broadcasting the Oscar ceremony, which will also be carried on its Pro Cinema channel PROTV, PRO CINEMA and film channel Voyo.
Serbia
Public network RTS will again be carrying the Oscar ceremony live for Serbian viewers.
Spain
Moviestar+ will start its Oscar coverage in Spain at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday night, with the ceremony starting at 2 a.m. local time. Ahead of the ceremony, Moviestar+ will screen Celine Song’s best picture nominee Past Lives.
Sweden
The Oscars 2023 will be broadcast on TV4 and VOD service TV4 Play, with pre-ceremony coverage starting from Sunday 11:30 p.m. local time. The ceremony will be carried live from 2 to 5:30 am Monday morning.
Switzerland
German-speaking Swiss who’d like a local accent for their Oscar coverage can switch over from ProSieben and Joyn to public broadcaster SF Zwei, where Tanya König will be hosting the Swiss Oscar coverage from 11:35 PM. SRF1 will show Oscar highlights on Monday from 6:35 PM and SRF Zwei from 8:05 PM.
Turkey
Disney+ is the go-to streamer for live coverage of the 2024 Oscars in Turkey.
Ukraine
Ukrainian film fans will be able to watch the 96th Academy Awards on Suspilne Kultura, the culture channel of the Ukrainian public broadcaster.
Latin America
Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT, CNN Chile and HBO Max will air the Oscars live across many countries in the region.
In Mexico, Azteca 7 and Azteca 13 will air the Hollywood kudos fest, starting with a pre-show, followed by the main Oscars ceremony.
Middle East and Africa
Pay-TV group Yes will carry the 96th Oscars on its Yes Movies HD channel in Israel.
Regional TV giant MBC, through its MBC 2 and MBC Max channels, as well as its streamer Shahid Plus have the rights to the Oscars in other parts of the Middle East and North Africa, bringing the ceremony to local fans in the early hours of Monday, according to the Oscars website.
In South Africa, the Academy Awards will once again air live on pay-TV giant DStv’s M-Net in the early hours of Monday local time. It will broadcast the Oscars live on March 11 from 1 a.m. CAT (Central Africa Time), midnight West Africa Time, and 2 a.m. Eastern Africa Time.
For those who don’t want to stay up all night, however, the star-studded awards ceremony will also get a replay on Monday evening at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. West Africa Time, 10 p.m. Eastern Africa Time) on M-Net.
Asia
India
Disney+ Hotstar will stream the Oscars, while its Star Movies, Star Movies HD and Star World linear channels will also broadcast the show live at 4 a.m. on Monday. A primetime repeat will be available on the same channels later in the evening.
Indonesia
Disney+ Hotstar will be carrying the Oscars live for viewers in Indonesia.
Japan
Premium cable operator Wowow, which has carried the Academy Awards ceremony in Japan since 2000, will once again air the show live at 7 a.m. Local TV personalities John Kabila and Misato Ugaki will host Wowow’s broadcast, with a guest appearance by pop star and actor Kenta Nakajima. A subtitled rebroadcast will take place Monday night at 9 p.m.
Philippines
For viewers in the Philippines, Disney+ will stream a red-carpet pre-show at 6:30 a.m. and the ceremony proper at 7:00 a.m.
Singapore
In Singapore, the big Hollywood awards show will be live-streamed on meWatch and Channel 5, beginning with red carpet coverage at 6:30 a.m. local time on Monday, with the main proceedings kicking off at 7 a.m. A same-day encore will air at 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. for the red carpet and main ceremony, respectively.
South Korea
This year South Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM has the rights to the Oscars via its cable channels and platforms OCN, OCN Movies, OCN Movies 2, TVN Limited, Genie TV, Genie TV Mobile, LG U+TV, LG U+ Mobile TV, UFLIX, 99 SVOD, Movie Choice Action, Home Choice, O Choice, with the coverage beginning at 7 a.m. local time.
