As in past years, Tuesday’s announcement will roll out in two tranches: the first batch of nominees will come at 5:30 a.m. PT, followed by the second at 5:41 a.m. PT that will feature the marquee acting, Directing and Best Picture categories.

As for what to expect, films like the dual summer blockbusters Barbie and Oppenheimer will be in the mix in most of the major categories, having led the way at most of the main precursor awards so far this season. Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things, The Holdovers and The Color Purple are also expected to hear names called.

The same goes for two big Cannes Film Festival international pics in The Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall; both are wild cards for Best Picture berths along with possible slots in Actress and Directing among other categories.

Following Tuesday’s noms announcement, the Academy will conduct its final voting February 22-27. Winners will be announced at the 96th Oscars on Sunday, March 10 on ABC hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
