This year’s top hip-hop artists will be honored on Tuesday night (Oct. 10) at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, which returns to Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Center.

2023 BET Hip Hop Awards: Air Date, Time, Channel


This year’s BET Hip Hop Awards will celebrate hip-hop’s 50th anniversary. The award show will air on BET on Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 8 p.m. CT. The show will simulcast on VH1 and MTV2.

2023 BET Hip Hop Awards Nominees


21 Savage and Cardi B lead this year’s race earning 12 nods each, followed by Drake with nine nods. Burna Boy and DJ Khaled landed seven nominations, J. Cole landed six; Jay Z, Coi Leray and GloRilla are tied at four nominations each. Other nominees include Lil Uiz Vert, Latto, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Metro Boomin, DaBaby and Lil Durk.

Who Is Performing at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards?


GloRilla, Sexxy Red, Fivio Foreign and DaBaby are among the performers alongside Kid Capri Kool DJ Red Alert, Spinderella and Scott Storch who will perform a DJ and producer tribute. A star-studded tribute celebrating the 30th anniversary of So So Def Records will also be included in the ceremony featuring Jermaine Dupri, Bow Wow, Ludacris, Da Brat, Bone Crusher, Dem Franchize Boyz and more.

The 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher will include Bun B, Lola Brooke, Cassidy, Gloss Up, Foggieraw, Lady London, Scar Lip and Symba. DJ Head, Maiya The Don, LaNell Grant and That Mexican OT will be featured in the digital cypher.

Who Is Being Honored at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards?


Marley Marl will receive this year’s I Am Hip-Hop Award. The trailblazing, hip-hop producer’s career has spanned more than 40 years and includes work with the legendary Juice Crew comprised of Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shanté, MC Shan, Masta Ace and the late Biz Markie. Rakim and LL Cool J will also perform a tribute to Marley Marl.


Elsewhere in the ceremony, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz will receive the Rock the Bells Culture Influence Award presented by LL Cool J. South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes will be posthumously honored with the Global Visionary Award.
