Washington senior wide receiver Dante Pettis set the all-time NCAA record for punt return touchdowns Saturday night at Husky Stadium.

With his ninth career punt return for a touchdown, Pettis passed Oklahoma’s Antonio Perkins (8) and Texas Tech’s Wes Welker (8) for the all-time NCAA record.

Pettis’ punt return happened in the second quarter of No. 12 UW’s game against Oregon, as Pettis scampered for a 64-yard punt return to put the Huskies’ up 10-3 with 10:05 left in the first half. It was Pettis’ fourth punt return for a touchdown this season, tying a Pac-12 record.

Pettis’ achievement added onto his father’s accomplishments this week — winning a World Series title as the third-base coach for the Houston Astros.
