Washington was impressive in Saturday’s 37-10 win at Colorado but lost one of its best offensive players in the process.

Huskies coach Chris Petersen announced Monday that wide receiver Chico McClatcher suffered a broken left ankle against the Buffs and will miss the remainder of the year. McClatcher has had a role on offense throughout his career but emerged as the No. 2 option behind Dante Pettis so far this year.

Playing primarily in the slot, McClatcher was second on the team with 10 catches for 128 yards this season. Last year, he had 34 catches for 574 yards and five touchdowns. As a freshman, McClatcher had only eight catches for 78 yards and a touchdown but also contributed 153 yards and three touchdowns rushing on 19 attempts.

McClatcher, a junior, missed UW’s Week 3 game against Fresno State, so he could be in line for a medical redshirt, Petersen said.

McClatcher had a prominent role on the UW offense, but receiver is one of the deepest positions on the roster. After four weeks, the Huskies have five other wideouts with at least four catches, plus a nice stable of tight ends, led by Hunter Bryant and Will Dissly, who have combined for 13 catches for 213 yards and two touchdowns.

The 4-0 Huskies, now ranked No. 6 in the country, travel to Oregon State on Saturday.
