The new track, released Tuesday morning, is his first song since last year, when his 19-track "Jesus Is King" album dropped.
Like the works on "Jesus is King," "Wash Us In the Blood" is a song of worship. Lyrics include: "Rain down on us (Huh) // Holy Spirit, come down (Ooh) // Holy Spirit, come down (Ah) // We need You now // Wash us in the blood (Ooh) // Whole life bein' thugs (Ah) // No choice, sellin' drugs (God) // Genocide what it does // Slavery what it does."
The song is accompanied by a frenetic video that was directed by artist Arthur Jafa. It features a smorgasbord of footage that's often grainy, everything from police facing off with protesters, street racing, people in the hospital struggling to breathe and even scenes from video games. Dr. Dre mixed the audio.
West first teased "Wash Us In the Blood" Monday on Twitter, using the "#westdayever" hashtag.
The single is already for sale on West's website. In addition to digital downloads, CDs, cassettes and vinyl are being offered.
West's latest song is from his upcoming 10th studio album, "God's Country," coming after "Jesus Is King," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. A release date has not yet been announced.
The singer and businessman has stayed relatively quiet in recent months.
In an interview with GQ earlier this year, West said he was tinkering with a 54-song playlist. "Wash Us In the Blood" is the first of those tracks to see the light of day.
"I am so proud of my beautiful wife Kim Kardashian West for officially becoming a billionaire," West tweeted. "You’ve weathered the craziest storms and now God is shining on you and our family. So blessed this is still life. So I made you this still life. We love you so much."
