Superstars are no longer safe in the National Basketball Association. Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant was ejected from Friday’s game against the Orlando Magic in the fourth quarter for exchanging words with an official.

Durant was ejected after hitting a shot with just under five minutes left in the contest. As he was running back down the court to play defense, Durant appeared to yell some profanities at an official and then started walking toward the locker room.

There was no dramatic meltdown or theatrics, causing the announcers to briefly wonder what just happened. On replay, you could see Durant direct some four-letter words toward the ref on his way back down the court. That was enough to get him tossed.

Durant believed he was fouled on the shot, and was upset he didn’t get the call. But it wasn’t just one singular incident that caused Durant to vent. It appears he was upset about a couple calls during the quarter.

Durant spent the rest of the contest in the locker room, where he watched the Warriors pull out the 133-112 win.

Following the game, Durant was asked about the ref’s quick decision to kick him out of the contest:

Durant becomes the third NBA superstar to be ejected from a game in the past four days. Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was hit with his first career ejection Tuesday night. New Orleans Pelicans phenom Anthony Davis joined the club the following night, also picking up his first career ejection.

Superstars were on their best behavior Thursday before Durant re-started the streak Friday night.
