Warner Bros. Wants All the Timothée Chalamet It Can Get with New First-Look Film Deal

Timothée Chalamet has proven twice within just the last three months that he is a true movie star. He’s one of the few young actors right now who can open a movie, whether it’s a family-friendly romp like “Wonka” or a sci-fi epic like “Dune: Part Two.”

That both of those were released by Warner Bros. is motivation for the studio to lock his services down as best they can. And so they have.

On Tuesday, WB film group heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy announced they’ve signed a multi-year, first-look feature film deal with Chalamet in which he will collaborate with the studio on future projects as both an actor and a producer. No specific projects were announced today.

Chalamet, 28, is still new to the producing game — but no longer a rookie. He produced Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All,” which was greenlit by MGM when De Luca and Abdy were still in charge at the studio; Chalamet is also producing James Mangold’s upcoming Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown.” Chalamet stars as Dylan in that film and is shooting the project now.

De Luca and Abdy are collecting mega stars like Pokémon and handing out deals left and right, including to Tom Cruise, Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s T-Street, and Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap — all announced within the last three months. They’ve also in that span set a Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan event film for release in 2025 as part of an arrangement with the “Black Panther” director, as well as a new film from Paul Thomas Anderson starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

We continue to build for the future of the theatrical film business at Warner Bros. Discovery and are thrilled Timothée has chosen our studio to be his creative home.”

“Dune: Part Two” from WB and Legendary Entertainment has made $575.5 million globally at the box office and is still going strong. “Wonka” made $632 million worldwide. As previously reported by IndieWire, Chalamet is the first actor in over four decades to star in the top two domestic-grossing films released in an 8-month period.

Some of Chalamet’s other credits include “Lady Bird,” “Little Women,” “Don’t Look Up,” “Call Me By Your Name,” “The French Dispatch,” and “Interstellar.”
