Want to know the top baby names for 2023? Sanford and Avera are here to tell us

Sanford Health and Avera Health systems have released the most popular baby names for 2023 in Sioux Falls, with one returning favorite along with certain new additions.

A press release from Sanford Health this week announced that Oliver ranked as the most popular baby name for boys in 2023, the name’s third consecutive win since 2021. Charlotte, on the other hand, ranked as the most popular name for girls this year, a name which wasn’t on the top five list in 2022 but ranked third the year before.

Henry for boys and Evelyn for girls held the second place this year, with Evelyn having moved up one spot since last year. William ranked as the third most popular name for boys this year, tied with Hudson, while Nora came in third for girls.

Avera Health announced Evelyn to be the top name for girls in 2023, while Hudson ranked first for the boys, according to the system's press release Wednesday. Both these names are new ones, since Oakley and Luca were the top choices for girls and boys last year, while it was Lillian and Lucas the year before.
